History
Although Baldwin Painting began in 1978, its values can be traced back to a southern Illinois farming community where my father, Howard, grew up. Honesty, hard work, and efficiency were learned then in an orchard – poultry business. Dad left the farm in 1951 for two years of bible school. As a young married man, he served several painting apprenticeships. We settled then in the Goshen-Elkhart area in 1956 where he carried out major responsibilities for two contractors for 25 years.
As I, Charles, grew up, dad shared his career experience with me. I became familiar with the trade as a service meeting customers’ expectations. I followed the example of both my parents as an adult graduating in 1976 from the same bible school they attended. Casting about for my own career, I began again painting. I served my own union apprenticeship in South Bend, graduating in 1988. I joined my dad’s business at that time.
Looking back on two generations of painting service, we are convinced that this community needs to be able to trust their decorating needs to reliable hands. We are ready to serve our community’s needs with competent, reliable service.
